Holding Agreement

A $500 deposit is required to hold your puppy. The deposit is non-refundable but applied to the purchase price. Remaining balance must be paid before release. Puppies may be picked up or shipped at 8 weeks of age once paid in full.

1. Health Guarantee Coverage

The Seller guarantees the puppy is in good health at the time of sale and free from life-threatening hereditary or congenital conditions for 2 years from the date of birth.

2. Conditions of Guarantee

• Puppy must be examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of pickup/delivery.
• Puppy must receive routine veterinary care, vaccinations, parasite control, and a healthy diet.
• No signs of abuse, neglect, or injury by the Buyer or a third party.
• Puppy must be at least 12 months old before spay/neuter.

Limited AKC Registration: This puppy is sold as a pet only.

If fed with Life’s Abundance Nutritional System for the first 26 months, the puppy is guaranteed against moderate/severe back issues and retinal eye disease until 26 months of age. OFA and CERF certifications apply.

3. Remedies and Options

If a life-threatening genetic condition is diagnosed and confirmed:

• Buyer must provide written documentation from two licensed veterinarians with test results.
• Seller will offer (at Seller’s discretion):
• A replacement puppy of equal value (when available)
• A partial refund (based on severity and circumstances)
• Buyer may keep the original puppy (return not required unless euthanasia is advised)
• Shipping/transportation costs are the Buyer’s responsibility unless otherwise agreed.

4. Exclusions

• Non-life-threatening conditions (umbilical hernias, minor heart murmurs)
• Accidental injuries or illnesses (parvovirus after 72 hours, poisoning, trauma)
• Conditions caused by poor diet, neglect, or over-exercise (e.g., IVDD from excessive stairs/jumping)
• Normal breed-specific issues (mild patella luxation, minor back problems)

5. Picking Up Your Puppy

Puppies must be picked up between 8–9 weeks unless prior arrangements are made. Shipping is available for an additional charge (includes crate and health certificate). Puppies cannot be shipped before 8 weeks.

6. First Right of Recovery

If Buyer cannot care for the puppy, Hilltop Kennel retains first right of recovery. The puppy must never be sold to pet stores, brokers, mills, or surrendered to a shelter. Seller must be notified immediately if Buyer cannot keep the puppy.

7. Agreement and Acknowledgement

Breeder may stop breeding Dachshunds at any time, in which case no replacement puppies will be offered. This contract is the full agreement and supersedes all prior agreements.
